Patcong Valley Model Railroad
We will be open on a limited basis on select weekends thru the summer and Fall according to the township special events schedule. If we are open the hours will usually be from 10am - 2pm . You can also come by early on any Saturday and we will be glad to let you see the RR while members are at work on it. (Trains are not running at these Saturday work sessions.) Come see the Progress on our our HO scale Railroad Layout !
Here is a little history about our group: Patcong Valley Society of Model Railroaders date back to the 1950’s where the original railroad was built in a chicken coop in a member’s back yard in Linwood NJ on Patcong Avenue. Following that period, members met in each other home until the early 1960’s. A second railroad was built on the second floor of a drug store in Ocean City NJ. Finally in 1968, the club moved into an old horse barn on Dick Schiereck’s property in Egg Harbor Township off Fire Road Near Atlantic City NJ. Currently, the PVRR is being rebuilt in an old warehouse on route 40 in Richland NJ.
The Club has been involved in a rebirth of the area along Rt 40 that is rich with railroad and cultural history. Many projects are underway at this time that are transforming this area into a destination stop rather than a whistle stop, as many cars pass thru this area to and from Atlantic City Area Beaches and Casinos.
The members of the Patcong Valley are hard at work at creating another high quality HO scale model railroad that will be open to the public for the holidays and on other special occasions just like the club was at their old location in Egg Harbor Township NJ.
The Club is seeking experienced members to help us build and operate this large DCC layout.
Take a tour around our website and contact us for more information, and send us your email address to be contacted when our show schedule is updated. Our 2008-2009 Open House was a huge success. See the links in the left column of this website page for a schedule of future open house dates during the holidays and special events at the Richland Village Site.
